  1. Sounds fantastic! My students loved receiving and writing letters to my friend's class in China (which is the country we study in our third grade). I had the students write about what we have learned about China during our Social Studies Celebration. Since time is running out, I suggested that we email our next letters to each other. But blogging sounds pretty cool. It's wonderful to hear how excited the students are about that. I like how you incorporate their learning and writing conferences. It's great how you select students to take turns blogging and preparing them for next year. Good luck!!

It would be interesting to try this blogging with my class. The other third grade class is now using laptops during writing.

  2. Great job!! It sounds like Thursday is the new favorite day of the week in your classroom!! Finding motivation and excitement towards writing almost seemed to just "happen" once their purpose and intentions had an engagement and an awareness to them. Being able to use blogging across your curriculum for assessment of their learning as well as your teaching is another powerful opportunity for growth. If this momentum continues, I can see where you might have to come up with a new way of deciding who gets to be the "blogger" on Thursdays. Any ideas yet as to how that might look different next year?

  3. Your project sounds great! I have thought about using a blog in my classroom, but was never sure what to have the kids blog about. Based on your experience, I would like to try having my students write about what they learned each week in class.

It was also great to hear that your students were willing to go back to their books to review concepts from the week to share with their blogging friends. My kids would never go back and re-read something! You've gotten some really great results with this project!
